Product Description

Pepe Le Pew would have hearts in his eyes just thinking about The Skunk. A sleek white frame is held up by a black frame and two different wheels: one rimmed in white and one in black. The aromatic rodent is both iconic and oddly revered; a feat of personality we can only hope to achieve with The Skunk. Retrospec was founded in 2009 in downtown Los Angeles to fulfill the need for a fixed-gear urban bicycle with transportation and style in mind. All of our frames are tig-welded and are available in many colors to fit your own unique style. We only use top quality components such as: Double walled super deep V wheels, 3 piece cranks, CST High Performance tires, Kraton rubber grips, riser style handlebars and KMC chains. With distribution on 6 continents and an ever-growing product line up, Retrospec is committed to providing you with a bike that is not only durable, but affordable as well.

5Perfect for daily use in flatter locations
By G Koltin Stratiner
This is a great single-speed bike. It i simple and dependable. It is built really well and lightweight. I'm also very pleased with it's appearance. It looks much better than the photos. I think I will end up buying another one for my mom's birthday. She will love it.

3Not a bad bike for the bucks...
By Antuan Goodwin
The Retrospec Beta Series is a bit heavy, but for the money it's not at all a bad bike. The Skunk that I've been riding for the past few weeks is a great commuter for none-too-hilly areas.

Pros:
> stylish looks. I've gotten compliments from many of my friends
> simple, single speed build has no derailleurs to adjust or jam up
> flip flop rear wheel is great for dabbling, but not committing to fixed gear riding
> bar spin clearance means that I can spin the handlebars 180° when parking and use a smaller U-lock to affix the frame and front wheel to the rack.
> inexpensive

Cons:
> the front inner tube on my bike was defective, so I ended up replacing it. It was a $7 fix, but only a minor inconvenience
> the bike is a bit heavier than I'd like. It's not oppressively heavy, but everyone I've let lift it has noted the bike's weight.
> no braze ons for bottle cages, pump, or other accessories

Notes:
> Be careful when choosing your size (I ended up going a size too big and had to go through the hassle of disassembling the bike and exchanging it for the small that I currently roll.)
> The bike arrives about 90% assembled leaving you to bolt on the handlebars, affix the front wheel, and attach the pedals and front brakes. Check and double check your work, and then have someone who knows what they're doing check again. I under-tightened the handle bar and it ended up loosening on my inaugural ride. It wasn't catastrophic, but it could have been. Not the bike's fault, totally my doing.
> I know. Buying a bike at your local bike shop usually gets you professional fitting and assembly, effectively avoiding both of the issues, but we're talking about a cheap online fixie here.
